Dubai is the global leader in the metaverse universe to enter the Metaverse realm by committing substantial resources and concentrating on the sector. Over the last several weeks, Dubai has shifted its focus to metaverse-related activities, and the globe is still in awe of what Dubai has shown. Not only did the city host the World Metaverse Show and the Dubai Metaverse Assembly, but also GITEX, which displayed the technology in all its grandeur and made significant announcements.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched its ‘DEWAVerse’ platform, becoming the first local government organization to provide services via the new technology that some say is the future of how people will interact with one another on the internet. With each passing day, Dubai is accelerating its metaverse strategy.’ The Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, has said that.
“The Move boosts the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aspires to convert Dubai into one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies and a worldwide center for the metaverse community, to strengthen the city’s performance in this sector.”
DEWAVerse features a customer support center and DEWA Workplace, which lets users navigate its facilities and have virtual meetings. DEWA Future Lab allows users to conduct brainstorming sessions, while DEWA Onboarding enables new workers to learn about DEWA’s vision and goal virtually.

How Does Dubai Excel in the Metaverse?
At the World Metaverse Show, experts gave a variety of estimations about when the Metaverse would achieve its full potential. Binh Dang, chief information officer of Bizverse, which intends to create a metaverse for commercial operations, predicted that the Metaverse would become a reality within the next three years, with Facebook parent company Meta leading the way.
Meanwhile, Zen Zijlstra, Portfolio Analyst at Hatchworks, told Business Recorder that it would take “some five to 10 years” before the company would see “truly functioning ideas that are operating within the metaverse.”
On the other hand, the Co-Founder and CEO of Ibentos, Harpreet Bhatia, has a more positive outlook. His firm assists other businesses in the Metaverse in hosting brand events. A few more updates: Several exciting announcements were made during GITEX, one of the world’s most extensive technology exhibits hosted in Dubai. Sharjahverse, a metaverse tourist platform, was recently introduced into the market by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ) has established METADAFZ, a virtual platform that will allow customers worldwide to have meetings. Thumbay Group said it is constructing a fully functional virtual hospital in the Metaverse to give patients an immersive healthcare experience. The metaverse hospital intends to deliver state-of-the-art healthcare, such as many clinicians advising on a case in a virtual clinic and first aid and preventative health programs using AR/VR and AI. The project’s first phase is anticipated to launch before the end of the year. Medicare Hospitals & Medical Centers also opened their first hospital in the Metaverse.
That’s not the end of it. The business behind the Sensorium Galaxy metaverse, Sensorium, has announced that it will expand into the United Arab Emirates by opening new headquarters in Dubai. During the event, Chief Executive Officer Vladimir Krinsky said that;
“Dubai is rapidly becoming a worldwide center for businesses operating in the metaverse and Web3 sector. By having a local presence in Dubai, we will be able to interact more closely with major players in the field and develop long-lasting relationships in the MENA region,” Sensorium said. Microsoft demonstrated at the Dubai Metaverse Assembly held at the end of September how immersive technology can reduce the skills gap, accelerate the Fourth Industrial Revolution, allow augmented reality in the workplace, and increase worker safety. Meanwhile, Binance connected users to the growth of gaming and Metaverse finance. At the same time, Megamall provided retail and real estate via a virtual lens with various options, including test tokens and personalized avatars.
The Dubai Metaverse Assembly is the first event of its sort since the Dubai Metaverse Strategy was adopted in July by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The plan intends to increase Dubai’s GDP by $4 billion, create 40,000 virtual employment by 2030, and recruit 1,000 businesses specialized in blockchain and metaverse technologies to make Dubai one of the top 10 metaverse economies in the world.
