Dubai Will Soon Permit Residents to Apply for Visas Using Mobile Facial Recognition

Dubai Will Soon Permit Residents to Apply for Visas Using Mobile Facial Recognition. When it is finally implemented, this initiative will use face biometric recognition and provide millions of people the opportunity to apply for visas without leaving the convenience of their homes.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai is preparing to launch an online application for a visa that will use the face recognition capabilities of a user’s smartphone.

According to the GDRFA, the new initiative will make it possible for citizens to apply for visas by only validating their identities using face recognition. Applicants seeking visas will be able to relax at home. At the same time, face recognition software takes care of most of the job, allowing them to submit their applications without leaving the coziness of their homes.

Fatima Salem Al Mazrouei, Director of the Project Management Office of GDRFA, recently went to a technology expo in Dubai dubbed GITEX Global 2022. During the performance, the director delivered an introduction and said that work was still being done but that we could anticipate a release shortly.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) is a government body responsible for managing the entrance and departure of international passengers and those individuals who live in Dubai as foreign nationals. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) is an essential body since Dubai’s labor force primarily comprises individuals from other countries.

3.5 million people are living in Dubai as of right now. As more people from all regions of the globe find jobs and join the workforce, these figures will only continue to rise. Given the large number of applications with which the department must deal, it is high time that a thoughtfully crafted solution be developed.

We want to use face biometrics to process all GDRFA services and transactions as soon as possible. Facial biometrics can be used for access control and verification across the board for all GDRFA services, including those for applying for residence or visas. Fatima’s statement makes it quite evident that the GDRFA intends to use face recognition technology in an increasing number of its activities. Residents of Dubai will not be needed to have a passport or any other document to prove themselves, according to Fatima.

When asked about an updated version of the GDRFA app, the director said it would facilitate better communication with the relevant authorities and consolidate all of the agency’s services into one location.
