Dubai intends to introduce flying taxis by 2026, as authorized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, who received authorization to design and install air taxi stations in Dubai while attending the World Government Summit. These stations will be strategically placed across the city.
Consider yourself in a waiting area for a flying taxi that will take you to your destination, drop you off, and then transfer you back to where you were. Doesn’t that sound like a nightmare? However, according to recent claims made by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), this might become a reality for Dubai residents by 2026.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, received authorization to design and install air taxi stations in Dubai while attending the World Government Summit. These stations will be strategically placed across the city.
In a recent tweet, the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said that Dubai would see the start of air taxi services within the next three years. “As a result of the World Government Summit, we sanctioned today the design of the new air taxi stations in Dubai, which will begin operations in three years,” he stated in the publication. “The new Dubai air taxi stations will be operational within three years.” These brand-new air taxi stations will commence operations within the next three years.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will need to create specialized “vertiports” for these air taxis to take off and land. A “vertiport” is just a piece of infrastructure that allows aircraft capable of electric vertical takeoff and landing to fly and land (eVTOL).
These air taxis are intended to fly over most of Dubai, connecting the city’s four central commercial districts. This category includes various locales, such as Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina.
In addition to the pilot, these air taxis will be able to carry up to four more people and have a peak speed of roughly 300 kilometres per hour. Is it accurate that citizens of Dubai will not be allowed to claim delay as an excuse?
