For the 2022-2023 season, Tata has replaced Vivo as the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League.

The Indian Premier League has grown in popularity over the years to become one of the world’s largest Twenty20 tournaments, attracting a large number of cricket fans. When it comes to obtaining title sponsorship bids, the IPL, which began operations in 2008, has always been successful.

Several business moguls have offered the BCCI large sums of money in exchange for the privilege to sponsor the cricket competition over the years. DLF became the title sponsor of the cash-rich Twenty20 league with the IPL’s launch in 2008, and made a Rs 40 crore bid to the BCCI while owning rights to the competition till 2012. Pepsi joined the party at the start of the 2013 season and kept the rights until the end of the 2015 season, paying Rs 79.2 crore (approximately $1.1 billion) for them.

The number of fans who followed the Indian Premier League (IPL) increased as the league’s popularity expanded, resulting in a huge increase in revenue. According to News 18, Vivo, a Chinese conglomerate, bought the title rights for the 2017 season as soon as the year began in 2016. The transaction was valued at Rs 100 crore. Seasons 2018 and 2019 have been revolutionary in the Indian Premier League, with sponsorship revenues increasing like never before and Vivo offering the BCCI a record Rs 440 crore.

For the 2022-2023 season, Tata has been awarded the IPL title sponsorship rights, succeeding Vivo.

Dream 11 was awarded the sponsorship rights for the IPL’s 2020 season, which will be exclusively hosted in the United Arab Emirates, for Rs 222 crore, which was much less than Vivo’s offer. Vivo’s tale was far from done, as they triumphed in the Indian Premier League (at their former fees) in the 2021 season, which was co-hosted by India and the United Arab Emirates.

In the current condition, the next IPL season is set to begin in the first week of April, and Tata has been handed title sponsorship rights worth more than Rs 300 crore. They’ll have the rights for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and it’s been claimed that they’ll be in the running for future seasons if and when the BCCI publishes another tender.
